Update #6 Time flies

Update #6 Time flies

It's been a year since my last update. Where did the time go?

Of course, the weather was to blame.
We had an early snow which brought anything related to building the new house to a dead stop.

We went from high water to several feet of snow overnight.
 What a mess!
But at least we had done some work on the new house done before it had hit.

When I posted Update #5 last year,  we had begun laying concrete block for our little log house on the hill. Over 4000 12 inch blocks have been laid since that time, many walls were filled with concrete and some of the concrete patios were formed and poured. I realize we DID get a great deal done but it just seemed to move so  s  l  o  w  l  y.

To me, it seems as if it is taking a lifetime to construct this home but my Engineer Husband assures me we are doing things correctly and as time and money permits. Ugh. I may be on Social Security before I get to buy furniture!

This is Perry's math stance.
I know when he does this, he is calculating math in his head.

Progress was being made...block by block.
It just took soooo long to lay over 4000 blocks. I know. Its a big project. All I wanna do is paint walls and hang up photos.

One of the concrete patios There will be a covered porch/deck above this one. This one comes off of the "apartment" area which is about 1,100 sq feet in size with 2 bedrooms.

We had a small house crew last year who did the block laying and finished the massive concrete basement floor. They worked on and off but mostly "off" this past year. It's been the Perry and Sherri show up there mostly. Or just "The Perry Show".

I try to help when I can and it's been interesting.

Here is a view from the house site last spring.
.

Here's Perry in my wine cellar/root cellar.

The house looks toward the west and what beautiful sunsets we will have.
Of course, we may be 80 by the time the porch is built.
This is the view looking westward below.
The dirt on the right has tons of boulders atop it. The boulders came from the strip mining that took place on our land over the last few years,
This will be my waterfall and pond area and will be seen from the side of the house as well. What a sunset it was!

This is a pile of 16 foot hemlock boards that are 12 inches wide and heavy. You should feel my arm muscles! Perry is one strong guy.
He picks these up like they are 2x4s.

Our walls in the basement are tall for sure. 10 feet!  Many exterior walls have poured concrete in them, You know....for when the SHTF.
That's prepper talk for "When the shit hits the fan".

That's Prepper Perry. Family and friends are calling the house "Camp Perry".

That's Perry waving good bye. I think he had had enough of the house that day.

This photo shows you how the basement of the new house looked
 as of June 2015.
We were ready to start getting some beams up!

Until the next blog update...
